The mission of the AD-Ingenuity group is to further the research, design and development of treatment and monitoring processes and equipment, to improve the operation, efficiency, and the environmental footprint of biological processes treating organic residues, especially anaerobic digestion and wastewater treatment.
With the objective to provide expert consultancy and support services to designers, operators, owners, governing bodies, regulators, insurance companies, and solicitors of law.

AD-Ingenuity support academic research relating to biological processes treating organic residuals, with the aim to promote knowledge transfer and dissemination of information and knowledge, and provide expert services to companies wishing to optimise anaerobic digesters and related processes.
In providing the above services the AD-Ingenuity group work with a variety of clients including water companies, project contractors, environmental consultancies, technology providers, waste companies, project developers, farmers, lawyers, solicitors, and barristers.
We do not provide services for construction or installation works, or project management for such services.
THE ADI GROUP
AD Ingenuity LLP was founded in 2020 by Russell Mulliner and Dr Les Gornall, who are both eminent experts in anaerobic digestion (with over 75-years experience between them), with a mission to:
"Establish and maintain the further development, improvement and advancement of anaerobic digestion and associated processes"

AD-Ingenuity provides specialist consultancy services for the anaerobic digestion, wastewater, biosolids, and organic waste sectors including: design, commissioning, process investigation, expert witness, and due diligence.
AD-ology provides specialist process and biology support for AD plants, advising on process performance and stability, and giving advice on feedstock rationing to maximise biogas production.
AD-Innovation undertakes specialist research and development to innovate and improve AD processes. A particular area of research is minimising the emissions of residual biogas and methane from treated biosolids by maximising the capture and utilisation of biogas, and evaluating techniques for inhibiting and deactivating methane production downstream of anaerobic digestion.
ABOUT US
Russell Mulliner
Russell has over 30-years experience in the Anaerobic Digestion sector. Russell commissioned and managed the UK's first full-scale food and green waste anaerobic digester.
Russell developed and designed a novel semi-plug flow digestion system (plug flow annulus with internal CSTR and sequential gas mixing), which since 2009, has been implemented successfully in over 30 anaerobic digestion facilities in the UK.
Dr Les Gornall
D. Phil BSc (Hons) CBiol FRSB
Les is a pioneer of anaerobic digestion in the UK with over 45 years' practice as a successful anaerobic digester, composting, and wastewater treatment engineer.
Les has provided Expert Witness Testimony in over 15 legal disputes and is trained in Civil Procedure Rules - Part 35 and Expert Meetings.
Steve Bungay

Steve is a scientist with 35 years experience in wastewater treatment and anaerobic digestion.
Steve has over 10 years experience working as an Expert Witness and undertaking forensic analysis in legal disputes in the areas of sewage treatment, sludge and biosolids treatment.
Jamie Gascoigne
BSc (Hons)
Jamie has 20 years experience in the anaerobic digestion sector and has led the successful commissioning of over 25 agricultural and foodwaste anaerobic digesters.
Joe Mann
BA (Hons)
Joe has worked in the anaerobic digestion industry for 15 years specialising in the biological monitoring and trouble-shooting of agricultural, foodwaste, and sewage sludge digesters.
